How to Install RSS2EMail on Linux Mint

  1. Open your terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T or search for terminal in the applications menu.

  2. Install the dependencies required for RSS2EMail using the following command:

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install python3-pip libcurl4-gnutls-dev libglib2.0-dev libxml2-dev libxslt-dev
    
  3. Once the dependencies are installed, you can now install RSS2EMail using pip:

    sudo pip3 install git+https://github.com/rss2email/rss2email.git
    
  4. After installation, you need to configure RSS2Email. Run the below command to create a basic configuration file:

    r2e new
    
  5. You can now edit the configuration file to add RSS feeds that you wish to receive updates from:

    nano ~/.config/rss2email/config.py
    

    Add the RSS feed URL in the following format:

    feeds = {
        'example': 'http://example.com/feed',
    }
    
  6. Once you've added the RSS feeds, you can run the following command to start receiving email updates:

    r2e run
    

    The command will scan for new content on your RSS feeds and send an email update to your configured email address.
