Fabric is a Python library and command-line tool for executing shell commands remotely over SSH connections. It was made to simplify the deployment process for developers, and it's widely used in software development teams. This tutorial will show how to install Fabric on MX Linux.
Before we begin, ensure that you have the following prerequisites:
Fabric requires Python and Pip to be installed on your system. To get started, let’s first check whether they are already installed on your system.
Open your terminal and run the following command:
$ python3 --version
If Python 3 is not installed, you can install it using the package manager.
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install python3
Next, check if pip is installed on your system by running:
$ pip3 --version
If Pip is not installed, install it using the following command:
$ sudo apt install python3-pip
Now that we have Python and Pip installed, we can install Fabric using Pip.
Run the following command to install Fabric:
$ pip3 install fabric
This command will automatically download and install Fabric and all its dependencies.
To verify that Fabric has been successfully installed, you can run the following command:
$ fab --version
This should display the version of Fabric installed on your system.
