How to Install InfluxDB on MXLinux Latest

InfluxDB is a powerful and flexible open-source database that is optimized for time series data. It is widely used for storing and querying large quantities of event data in real time. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing InfluxDB on MXLinux Latest.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, ensure that you have the following:

Step 1: Downloading and Installing InfluxDB

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to https://influxdb.com/.

  2. Click on the "Downloads" tab on the top right corner of the website.

  3. Select the appropriate version of InfluxDB for your operating system. In this case, select the "Linux" tab.

  4. From the drop-down list, select "DEB."

  5. Download the latest version of InfluxDB by clicking on the "Download" button.

  6. Once the download is complete, open your terminal by pressing ctrl + alt + t.

  7. Navigate to the directory where the downloaded file is saved by typing cd ~/Downloads.

  8. Install the InfluxDB package by running the following command:

sudo dpkg -i influxdb_1.8.6_amd64.deb

Note: Replace influxdb_1.8.6_amd64.deb with the name of the downloaded package file.

  1. After the package installation is complete, start the InfluxDB service by running the following command:

sudo systemctl start influxdb

  1. Verify that the InfluxDB service is running by executing:

sudo systemctl status influxdb

If the service is running, you will see a message similar to the following:

● influxdb.service - InfluxDB is an open-source, distributed, time series database
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/influxdb.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Wed 2021-11-24 14:11:20 EST; 10s ago
       Docs: https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb/
   Main PID: 34987 (influxd)
      Tasks: 12 (limit: 4915)
     Memory: 16.5M
        CPU: 324ms
     CGroup: /system.slice/influxdb.service
             └─34987 /usr/bin/influxd -config /etc/influxdb/influxdb.conf

Step 2: Testing InfluxDB

Now that you have installed and started the InfluxDB service, you can test it by using the InfluxDB command-line interface (CLI).

  1. Launch the InfluxDB CLI by executing the following command:

influx

  1. Once you're in the InfluxDB CLI, execute the following command to create a new database named "test":

CREATE DATABASE test

  1. Confirm that the database has been created by running the following command:

SHOW DATABASES

You should see a list of databases, including the test database that you just created.

  1. You can exit the InfluxDB CLI by typing exit.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed and tested InfluxDB on MXLinux Latest. You can now start capturing and analyzing time series data in real-time.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
