OPNsense is an open-source and easy-to-use firewall and router platform that delivers advanced features to both home and business users. If you want to install OPNsense on your MXLinux system, then follow the below mentioned step-by-step tutorial:
Step 1: Download OPNsense
- Go to the official OPNsense website and download the latest version of OPNsense ISO file.
Step 2: Prepare USB Stick
- Insert a USB stick with a minimum capacity of 2 GB, and backup any important data as it will be erased during the installation process.
- Download Rufus and select the USB drive and OPNsense ISO file.
- Start the process and wait until the operation is completed.
Step 3: Boot from USB Drive
- Insert the OPNsense USB drive into your computer and restart it.
- Open the boot menu, select your USB drive, and press Enter.
Step 4: Install OPNsense
- Once the OPNsense is booted, on the system console select Install.
- Select keymap appropriate to your location.
- Set the root password.
- Next, choose a partitioning scheme, select the partition and format it accordingly.
- Select yes to confirm the installation by entering "yes".
- Wait for the installation to complete.
Step 5: Reboot
- After the installation process is completed, on the console select reboot.
Step 6: Configure OPNsense
- Open your browser and enter the IP address of your new OPNsense installation in the address bar.
- Login using the "root" username and the password set earlier.
- Follow the onscreen steps to configure your OPNsense settings, such as Ethernet interfaces and gateway settings.
- You’ll now be able to access the OPNsense web interface at https://{IP_Address}.
