In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing TextMate on the latest version of MXLinux. We will be using the official TextMate repository from GitHub.
To follow this tutorial, you will need the following:
Before installing TextMate, you need to make sure that your system has all the required dependencies. Open the terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y git-core cmake pkg-config ragel libicu-dev libkqueue-dev libz-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libssl-dev libxml2-dev libxslt1-dev libyaml-dev libreadline-dev autoconf libtool
Next, you need to clone the TextMate repository from GitHub. To do this, open the terminal and run the following command:
git clone https://github.com/textmate/textmate.git
Now that the repository has been cloned, navigate to the cloned repository directory using the terminal:
cd textmate
Next, run the following command to build and install TextMate:
rake && sudo mv assembled/TextMate.app /Applications/
This will build and install TextMate on your system.
You can now open TextMate by running the following command in the terminal:
open /Applications/TextMate.app
Alternatively, you can search for TextMate in the application menu and launch it from there.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed TextMate on MXLinux Latest. Happy coding!
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
