wger is a free, open-source and web-based workout, fitness and weight manager application. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to install wger on MXLinux Latest.
Before installing wger, make sure that you have the following:
Before we start with the installation, let's update our system to the latest state.
To do this, open the terminal and execute the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
wger requires the following packages to function properly:
To install these packages, execute the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install python3 python3-pip git
To clone the wger repository, execute the following command in the terminal:
git clone https://github.com/wger-project/wger.git
This will create a new directory called wger
in your current working directory.
wger requires some dependencies to be installed. To install them, run the following command in the terminal:
cd wger
sudo pip3 install -r requirements.txt
This will install all the required dependencies for wger.
Next, we need to configure wger. Make a copy of the settings_local.py.template
file:
cp wger/settings_local.py.template wger/settings_local.py
Now, edit the wger/settings_local.py
file to add your database settings, email settings, and any other required settings.
nano wger/settings_local.py
The next step is to initialize wger's database. To do this, run the following command in the terminal:
python3 manage.py migrate
You need to create a superuser account to access the wger application. To create a superuser account, run the following command:
python3 manage.py createsuperuser
This will prompt you to enter your desired username, email, and password.
To run the wger application, execute the following command:
python3 manage.py runserver
You can now access wger by opening your web browser and navigating to http://127.0.0.1:8000/
