CasaOS is an operating system designed specifically for managing your smart home devices, network, and data privacy. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing CasaOS on your Manjaro system.
Prerequisites
Before you begin the installation process, you need to ensure that you have the following prerequisites:
- A running instance of Manjaro with internet connectivity.
- At least 4GB of free disk space.
- A USB flash drive with a capacity of at least 8GB.
Step 1: Download CasaOS
The first step in the installation process is to download the latest version of CasaOS from the official website. You can do this by following these steps:

Step 2: Create a bootable USB drive
Next, you need to create a bootable USB drive containing the CasaOS installer. You can use any tool that you are familiar with, but we recommend using the "Rufus" tool. Follow these steps to create a bootable USB drive:
- Insert your USB flash drive into the system.
- Download and install "Rufus" from https://rufus.ie/en/.
- Once installed, open Rufus and select your USB drive from the "Device" drop-down menu.
- Click on the "Select" button next to the "Boot selection" box and select the CasaOS installer file that you downloaded in Step 1.
- Leave all other options to their default values and click on the "Start" button.
- Wait until Rufus completes the creation of the bootable USB drive.
Step 3: Boot from the USB drive
With the bootable USB drive ready, it is now time to boot your system from the USB drive. Follow these steps to achieve this:
- Insert the USB drive into your system.
- Restart your system and press the appropriate key to enter the boot menu. This key varies depending on your system manufacturer, so consult your system documentation to find out the appropriate key.
- In the boot menu, select the USB drive as the boot device and press "Enter".
- Your system should now boot from the USB drive and you will see the CasaOS installer screen.
Step 4: Install CasaOS
With the CasaOS installer screen now visible, follow these steps to complete the installation:
- Select your preferred language and click on the "Next" button.
- Read and accept the license agreement by clicking on the "Accept" button.
- Choose the installation drive where you want to install CasaOS and click on the "Next" button.
- Choose your keyboard layout and timezone and click on the "Next" button.
- Create a login account for the CasaOS system and click on the "Next" button.
- Review your settings and click on the "Install" button to begin the installation process.
- Wait until the installation completes, then click the "Finish" button to restart your system.
- Remove the USB drive from your system and allow it to boot from the hard drive.
Step 5: Access CasaOS
Once your system has finished booting, you should now be able to access CasaOS by opening a web browser and entering the IP address of the device running CasaOS. You can find the IP address by running the ip addr show
command in a terminal window.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed CasaOS on your Manjaro system. You can now start managing your smart home devices and enjoying the benefits of CasaOS.
