Installing Mailcow on Manjaro

Mailcow is an open-source mail server solution that supports multiple domains, users, and email services. It's designed to be easy to install and manage. In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the steps to install Mailcow on Manjaro.

Prerequisites

Before you begin with the installation, make sure that:

• You have a running Manjaro machine.
• You have administrative access to the system.
• You have at least 2GB of RAM and a multi-core processor.
• Your machine has a fully-qualified domain name (FQDN).

Step 1: Install Git and Docker

First, you need to install Git and Docker on your Manjaro machine. Git will be used to download Mailcow's installation files, and Docker will be used to create Mailcow containers.

To install Git and Docker, open the terminal and run the following command:

sudo pacman -S git docker

Step 2: Configure Docker

After installing Docker, you need to configure it to work with Mailcow. To do so, run the following command in the terminal:

sudo systemctl enable --now docker

Next, add your user to the Docker group by running the following command:

sudo usermod -aG docker $USER

Step 3: Clone the Mailcow Repository

Now, you need to clone Mailcow's repository from GitHub. To do so, run the following command:

git clone https://github.com/mailcow/mailcow-dockerized.git

This will download Mailcow's installation files to your current working directory.

Step 4: Configure Mailcow's Environment Variables

Before installing Mailcow, you need to configure its environment variables. To do so, navigate to the cloned repository directory by running the following command:

cd mailcow-dockerized

Next, copy the .env-mailcow file to .env by running the following command:

cp .env-mailcow .env

Then, edit the .env file and set the following variables:

• MAILCOW_HOSTNAME - Set this to your machine's FQDN.
• SOGO_WORKERS - Set this to the number of CPU cores your machine has.
• HTTP_PORT - Set this to the port you want Mailcow to use for HTTP.
• HTTPS_PORT - Set this to the port you want Mailcow to use for HTTPS.

Save and exit the file when you're done.

Step 5: Run the Installation Script

Finally, you can run Mailcow's installation script by running the following command:

sudo MAILCOW_HOSTNAME=yourdomain.com docker-compose up -d --remove-orphans

This will start downloading and building Mailcow's containers. The process may take several minutes, depending on your network and machine speed.

Step 6: Access Mailcow's Web Interface

After the installation process is completed, Mailcow's web interface should be accessible via your machine's IP address or FQDN on the port you specified in the .env file. Open your web browser and go to:

http://yourdomain.com:HTTP_PORT

or

https://yourdomain.com:HTTPS_PORT

You should see Mailcow's login page. Use the default username and password (admin/mailcow) to log in and follow the setup wizard to configure your domains, users, and other settings.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed Mailcow on Manjaro.
