How to Install OpenTripPlanner on Manjaro

OpenTripPlanner is an open-source trip planner that is used to calculate public transit routes. If you are interested in using this software on your Manjaro system, follow the steps outlined below.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the installation, make sure you have an updated version of Java installed on your system. To check if Java is installed, open a terminal window and run the following command:

java -version

If Java is not installed, you can install it using the following command:

sudo pacman -S jdk8-openjdk

Installing OpenTripPlanner

1. Open a terminal window on your Manjaro system.

2. Clone the OpenTripPlanner GitHub repository by running the following command:

git clone https://github.com/opentripplanner/OpenTripPlanner.git

3. Navigate to the OpenTripPlanner directory by running the following command:

cd OpenTripPlanner

4. Build the OpenTripPlanner application by running the following command:

./gradlew shadowJar

5. Once the build process is complete, navigate to the opentripplanner-webapp/target directory by running the following command:

cd opentripplanner-webapp/target

6. Run the OpenTripPlanner server by executing the following command:

java -Xmx2G -jar otp.jar --build .

This will launch the OpenTripPlanner server, and you will be able to access it by visiting http://localhost:8080/ in your web browser.
