How to Install SocksBin on Manjaro

SocksBin is a lightweight, efficient, and fast SOCKS proxy server which can be used to bypass firewalls and access blocked websites. In this tutorial, we will be installing SocksBin on Manjaro.

Prerequisites

Installation Steps

  1. Open your terminal and run the following command to install Git on your system:

    sudo pacman -S git

  2. Clone the SocksBin repository by running the following command:

    git clone https://github.com/magnumdingusedu/socksbin.git

  3. Change the directory to the SocksBin folder by running the following command:

    cd socksbin

  4. Run the following command to compile SocksBin on your system:

    make

  5. After the compilation process is complete, install the SocksBin executable by running the following command:

    sudo make install

  6. Verify the installation by running the following command:

    socksbin -v

If the installation was successful, this command will print the SocksBin version number.

  7. To start the SocksBin server, run the following command:

    socksbin -t tcp://0.0.0.0:1080

This will start the SocksBin server on port 1080. If you want to use a different port, replace 1080 with your desired port number.

  8. You can now use the SocksBin server as a SOCKS proxy by configuring your web browser or application to use the SOCKS proxy at localhost:1080 (or your chosen port number).

Congratulations! You have successfully installed SocksBin on Manjaro.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
