TeslaMate is an open-source software that allows you to monitor and analyze your Tesla vehicle data. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to install TeslaMate on Manjaro.
Before we begin, make sure you have the following:
First, you need to clone the TeslaMate repository from Github. Open a terminal window and enter the following command:
git clone https://github.com/adriankumpf/teslamate.git
This will create a new directory called "teslamate" in your current working directory.
.env
FileNext, you need to create a .env
file. This file will contain all the environment variables required to run TeslaMate. Navigate to the teslamate directory:
cd teslamate
Then, create a new .env
file using your preferred text editor:
nano .env
In the editor, add the following lines:
DATABASE_URL=postgres://teslamate:CHANGE_ME@db/teslamate
SECRET_KEY_BASE=CHANGE_ME
MAPBOX_ACCESS_TOKEN=CHANGE_ME
Replace CHANGE_ME
with a secure password and Mapbox access token.
TeslaMate uses Docker containers to run. To start the containers, enter the following command in your terminal:
docker-compose up -d
This will start the PostgreSQL database and TeslaMate web interface containers.
Next, you need to create the TeslaMate database. Enter the following command:
docker-compose run --rm teslamate rake db:create db:migrate
This will create the necessary tables in the database.
Finally, you need to configure TeslaMate to communicate with your Tesla vehicle. Navigate to the TeslaMate web interface:
http://localhost:4000
The first time you access the web interface, you will be prompted to add your vehicle. Follow the on-screen instructions to authorize TeslaMate to access your Tesla account and retrieve your vehicle data.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed TeslaMate on Manjaro! You can now view and analyze your Tesla vehicle data using the TeslaMate web interface.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
