Writing is a simple and lightweight text editor that aims to provide a distraction-free writing environment. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to install Writing on Manjaro.
Before installing Writing, we need to install some dependencies. Open a terminal window and run the following command:
sudo pacman -S libxkbcommon-x11 qt5-base
This command will install the libxkbcommon-x11 package and the Qt5 framework, which are required to run Writing.
Next, we need to download Writing from the official website. Open a web browser and go to the following link: https://josephernest.github.io/writing/
Click on the "Download" button to download the latest version of Writing as a .zip
file.
Once the download is complete, navigate to the download directory in your terminal and extract the archive using the following command:
unzip writing-X.X.X.zip
Replace "X.X.X" with the actual version number of Writing that you downloaded.
This will create a new directory called writing-X.X.X
in your current directory.
Navigate to the extracted directory using the following command:
cd writing-X.X.X
To install Writing, run the following command:
sudo make install
Writing should now be installed on your system.
To launch Writing, open a terminal window and run the following command:

You should now see Writing's user interface.
