How to Install Xandikos on Manjaro using GitHub

This tutorial will guide you through the process of installing Xandikos on Manjaro distribution using GitHub.

Prerequisites

  1. A Manjaro distribution machine
  2. Access to the command line
  3. Basic knowledge of the Linux command line

Step 1: Install Git

Git, a version control system, will allow us to clone the Xandikos repository from GitHub.

Open a terminal and run the following command:

sudo pacman -S git

Enter your root password when prompted and Git will be installed.

Step 2: Clone the Xandikos Repository

Now that Git is installed, clone the Xandikos repository from GitHub.

In the terminal, navigate to the directory where you want to store the Xandikos repository, then run the following command:

git clone https://github.com/jelmer/xandikos.git

This will download the Xandikos repository to your machine.

Step 3: Install the Required Dependencies

Xandikos requires several dependencies to be installed before it can be run properly. Run the following command to install them:

sudo pacman -S virtualenv python-pip python-vobject python-setuptools python-wheel python-click

xandikos_mkconfig -p /calendars/

This will create a sample configuration file in the Xandikos repository directory.

Step 8: Start the Xandikos Service

To start the Xandikos service, run the following command:

xandikos

This will start the Xandikos server at http://127.0.0.1:8000/.
