How to install Linux Dash on NetBSD

Linux Dash is a web-based dashboard for monitoring Linux servers. However, it's possible to use it on NetBSD, too. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to install Linux Dash on NetBSD.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, make sure you have the following prerequisites:

Installation

  1. Open a terminal window and navigate to a directory where you want to install Linux Dash.
  2. Clone the Linux Dash repository by running the following command:
git clone https://github.com/afaqurk/linux-dash.git
  1. Navigate into the newly cloned directory:
cd linux-dash
  1. Install the dependencies:
npm install
  1. Start the Linux Dash server:
npm start
  1. Visit http://localhost:80 in your web browser.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed Linux Dash on NetBSD.

Important Note

By default, Linux Dash runs on port 80, which requires root access. If you wish to run Linux Dash on a different port, you can modify the PORT variable in the .env file.

Additionally, you should be aware that Linux Dash listens on all interfaces by default. If you wish to limit it to listen on a specific NIC, you can modify the HOST variable in the .env file.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
