MTR (My traceroute) is a network diagnostic tool that combines the functionality of traceroute and ping in a single network tool. This tutorial will guide you through the installation process of MTR on NetBSD.
Before installing MTR, update your NetBSD system to ensure that you have the latest software packages and security patches installed. Open the terminal and type the following command:
pkgin update
MTR is not included in the NetBSD package repository, so you need to download it from the BitWizard website. Open a web browser and go to this link to download the MTR package:
https://www.bitwizard.nl/mtr/
Once the download is complete, switch to the directory where you saved the package and use the following command to install it:
pkg_add mtr-0.94nb8.tgz
Once the installation of MTR is complete, verify that it is installed correctly, run the following command:
mtr --version
This command will display the MTR version installed on your system.
MTR is now installed on your NetBSD system. You can use this tool to diagnose network issues and troubleshoot connection-related problems.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
