Send is a simple, secure, and easy-to-use command-line file sharing tool. This tutorial will guide you through the process of installing Send on OpenBSD.
Before proceeding with the installation, make sure your OpenBSD system meets the following requirements:
First, install Go on your OpenBSD system by running the following command:
doas pkg_add go
Clone the Send repository from GitHub by running the following command:
git clone https://github.com/timvisee/send.git
This will create a new directory send
in your current working directory.
Change to the send
directory by running the following command:
cd send
Build Send by running the following command:
go build
Install Send by moving the binary to the /usr/local/bin
directory with the following command:
doas install -m 755 send /usr/local/bin/send
This will install Send on your system, allowing you to use it from the command line.
To use Send, simply run the following command:
send [filename]
Replace [filename]
with the path to the file you want to share. Send will generate a unique URL that you can use to share the file with others.
By default, Send creates a temporary file that is deleted after 1 download or 24 hours, whichever comes first. You can change this behavior by using command-line flags.
For more information on how to use Send, run the following command:
send --help
You have successfully installed Send on your OpenBSD system. Now, you can easily and securely share files with others using the command line.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
