This tutorial will guide you through the process of installing Trudesk on OpenBSD. Trudesk is an open source helpdesk ticketing system that is developed in Node.js.
Trudesk requires MongoDB to run, so you will need to install it first. Run the following command:
sudo pkg_add mongodb%4.4
Next, you will need to configure MongoDB with the following command:
sudo mkdir -p /var/mongodb
sudo chown -R _mongodb:_mongodb /var/mongodb
sudo touch /etc/mongodb.conf
sudo sh -c "echo 'dbpath = /var/mongodb\nlogpath = /var/log/mongodb.log\nbind_ip = 127.0.0.1\n' >> /etc/mongodb.conf"
Then, start the MongoDB service:
sudo /etc/rc.d/mongodb start
Clone the Trudesk repository using the following command:
git clone https://github.com/polonel/trudesk.git
Navigate to the trudesk directory:
cd trudesk
Install the dependencies:
npm install
Copy the .env.example
file to .env
:
cp .env.example .env
Edit the .env
file with your preferred editor:
nano .env
Set the DB_URI
variable to mongodb://127.0.0.1:27017/trudesk
Start Trudesk with the following command:
npm start
Then, open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost:8118. You should see the Trudesk login page.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Trudesk on OpenBSD. You can now start using the helpdesk ticketing system to manage support requests.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
