OPNsense is a free and open-source firewall and routing platform. It is based on FreeBSD and is designed to be user-friendly and easy to use. OPNsense offers many features, including VPN, high availability, and intrusion detection and prevention.
This tutorial will guide you through the process of installing OPNsense on OpenSUSE Latest.
Prerequisites
- A computer running OpenSUSE Latest
- A USB drive or a CD/DVD burner
Step 1: Download OPNsense
- Go to the OPNsense website: https://opnsense.org/
- Click on the "Download" button.
- Click on the "Latest Stable 21.1.5" image.
- Choose your preferred mirror and download the image.
Step 2: Create a Bootable USB Drive or CD/DVD
- Insert your USB drive or CD/DVD burner.
- Launch the "Image Writer" tool.
- Click on the "Write to Disk Image" button.
- Browse to the location where you downloaded the OPNsense image and select it.
- Choose the USB drive or CD/DVD burner as the target device.

Step 5: Access the OPNsense Web Interface
- Once the installation is complete, remove the USB drive or CD/DVD and reboot your computer.
- OPNsense will now boot up and you will be presented with the login screen.
- Log in to the OPNsense web interface by typing the IP address of your OPNsense server into a web browser.
- You can now configure OPNsense to suit your needs.
