Juntagrico is a Swiss-based open-source platform for managing community-supported agriculture (CSA) projects. It allows farmers to collaborate with their customers and automate most of the administrative tasks involved in running a CSA.
If you're running OpenSUSE Latest and want to install Juntagrico on your system, this tutorial will guide you through the process step-by-step.
Before you begin, you need to make sure your system meets the following requirements:
mysqli, pdo_mysql, intl, json, mbstring, ctype, xml)To install Apache server on your OpenSUSE system, run the following command:
sudo zypper install apache2
After the installation is complete, start and enable Apache server with these commands:
sudo systemctl start apache2
sudo systemctl enable apache2
Verify that Apache server is running by accessing your system's IP address in a web browser. You should see the Apache default page.
To install MySQL or MariaDB server on your OpenSUSE system, run the following command:
sudo zypper install mariadb mariadb-client
After the installation is complete, run this command to secure the installation:
sudo mysql_secure_installation
Follow the prompts to set a root password, remove anonymous users, disallow root login remotely, and remove the test database.
Start and enable MySQL or MariaDB server with these commands:
sudo systemctl start mariadb
sudo systemctl enable mariadb
Verify that the MySQL or MariaDB server is running by running the following command:
sudo systemctl status mariadb
To install PHP and the required extensions on your OpenSUSE system, run the following command:

After the installation is complete, restart Apache server with this command:
sudo systemctl restart apache2
To install Git on your OpenSUSE system, run the following command:
sudo zypper install git
To clone Juntagrico repository on your OpenSUSE system, run the following command:
sudo git clone https://github.com/juntagrico/juntagrico.git /srv/www/htdocs/juntagrico
Change the ownership of the cloned directory to Apache user with this command:
sudo chown -R wwwrun:www /srv/www/htdocs/juntagrico
Log in to the MySQL or MariaDB server as root with this command:
sudo mysql -u root -p
Create a new database for Juntagrico:
CREATE DATABASE juntagrico;
Create a new user for Juntagrico:
CREATE USER 'juntagrico'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'your_password_here';
Grant the user permissions to the database:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON juntagrico.* TO 'juntagrico'@'localhost';
Flush the privileges and exit the MySQL or MariaDB server:
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
EXIT;
Copy the config.dist.php to config.php file:
cd /srv/www/htdocs/juntagrico/
sudo cp config.dist.php config.php
Edit the config.php file with your favorite text editor:
sudo nano config.php
Change the following lines to reflect your MySQL or MariaDB database and user credentials:
const DB_HOST = 'localhost';
const DB_NAME = 'juntagrico';
const DB_USER = 'juntagrico';
const DB_PASSWORD = 'your_password_here';
Save and exit the file.
Install Juntagrico dependencies with this command:
cd /srv/www/htdocs/juntagrico/
sudo ./composer.phar install
Note: If you get an error message about php7-posix extension missing, you can install it with this command:
sudo zypper install php7-posix
Initialize Juntagrico with this command:
cd /srv/www/htdocs/juntagrico/
sudo php7.4 init.php
Open your web browser and access your system's IP address followed by /juntagrico/. You should see the Juntagrico installation wizard.
Follow the wizard steps to finish the installation process.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed Juntagrico on your OpenSUSE system!
