Zim is a free and open-source desktop wiki that lets you organize notes and thoughts in a convenient and efficient manner. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to install Zim on the latest version of POP! OS.
Before we get started with installing Zim, make sure you have the following requirements:
The first step in installing Zim is to open up the terminal by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + T
shortcut on your keyboard or by clicking on the Terminal application in the application launcher.
Next, we need to add the Zim repository to the list of available software sources that our system can access. To do that, type the following command in your terminal and press Enter:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:zim-desktop-wiki/ppa
Enter your password if prompted and press Enter
to continue.
After adding the Zim repository, update your system packages using the following command:
sudo apt update
This will download and install any new software updates and packages that are available for your system.
With the Zim repository added and our system packages updated, we are now ready to install Zim on our POP! OS. Do this by typing the following command in your terminal and pressing Enter
:
sudo apt-get install zim
The installation process will then begin, and you will be prompted to confirm the installation by typing y
. Follow any instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.
Once the installation is complete, you can open Zim from the application menu or by typing zim
in your terminal.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Zim on your POP! OS system. You can now start organizing your notes and thoughts in Zim and take your productivity to the next level!
