CasaOS is an open-source firmware designed for personal cloud storage solutions. In this tutorial, we will explain how to install CasaOS on Ubuntu Server Latest.
First, download the CasaOS firmware from the official website. You can download the latest version by visiting the webpage https://www.casaos.io/download on your browser.
Connect the USB drive to your computer and format it to FAT32 if not already formatted that way.
Once the format is complete, open the terminal application and navigate to the downloaded CasaOS firmware directory.
Then, execute the following command to extract the CasaOS image file:
unzip -p CasaOS-*.zip | sudo dd of=/dev/sdX bs=4M conv=fsync
Note: Replace /dev/sdX with your USB drive identifier. Make sure to select the correct device identifier to avoid any data loss.
Insert the USB drive into the target server and power it up to boot from the USB drive.
After successfully booting from the USB drive, the CasaOS installation interface will be displayed. Follow the instructions and complete the installation process as prompted.
Once the installation completes, you can access the CasaOS web interface by entering the server’s IP address on your web browser followed by “:3000”. For example, http://192.168.1.1:3000.
Following these steps, you can install CasaOS on an Ubuntu Server Latest. Once installed, you can configure CasaOS according to your needs and use it as a personal cloud storage solution.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
