In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing EmailRelay on Ubuntu Server. EmailRelay is an open-source tool for relaying emails between servers. We will be using Ubuntu Server Latest version for this tutorial.
Before starting the installation process, make sure you have the following requirements met:
The first step is to update the Ubuntu Server to make sure it has the latest packages and security patches. You can use the following command to update the system:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
EmailRelay requires several packages to be installed in order to work properly. Use the following command to install the required packages:
sudo apt install build-essential libssl-dev libboost-all-dev
EmailRelay can be downloaded from the official website https://emailrelay.sourceforge.net/. We will be downloading the latest stable release using the following command:
wget https://github.com/rnwood/smtp-bridge/releases/download/v1.9.1/emailrelay-1.9.1.tar.gz
Once the download is complete, extract the package using the following command:
tar -xvf emailrelay-1.9.1.tar.gz
The next step is to compile and install EmailRelay on your Ubuntu Server. Navigate to the extracted folder and run the following commands:
cd emailrelay-1.9.1
./configure
make
sudo make install
After installing EmailRelay, the next step is to configure it according to your needs. You can find the configuration file in the following path:
/etc/emailrelay.conf
You can open and modify the configuration file using any text editor of your choice. Make sure to save the changes after editing.
Finally, start the EmailRelay service and enable it to start automatically on system boot using the following commands:
sudo systemctl start emailrelay
