Discourse has several dependencies that need to be installed before the platform can be run. Use the following command to install the dependencies:
sudo xbps-install -y git ruby-devel ruby-bundler gcc make postgresql-libs postgresql-devel zlib-devel libxml2-devel libxslt-devel
Clone Discourse repository to your var folder using the following command:
sudo git clone https://github.com/discourse/discourse /var/discourse
Navigate to the cloned repository and edit the samples/standalone.yml
file to configure Discourse:
cd /var/discourse/
sudo cp samples/standalone.yml containers/app.yml
sudo nano containers/app.yml
Update the DISCOURSE_HOSTNAME
parameter with your domain name, and the LETSENCRYPT_ACCOUNT_EMAIL
parameter with your email address.
Run the following command to install Discourse:
sudo ./launcher bootstrap app
Once the installation process is complete, start Discourse using the following command:
sudo ./launcher start app
Discourse should now be accessible via a web browser using your domain name. Navigate to http://your-domain-name.com
to access Discourse.
