Heimdall is a cross-platform open-source tool for flashing firmware, ROMs, and kernels on Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of installing Heimdall on Void Linux.
Before you begin, ensure that you have the following prerequisites:
Firstly, we need to add the Heimdall repository to our Void Linux system using the below command:
sudo xbps-install -S heimdall
Heimdall requires some dependencies for proper functionality. To install these dependencies, run the below command:
sudo xbps-install -S libusb-devel libusb-compat-devel cmake
In this step, we will compile Heimdall from the source code. Follow the given below command to download the source code for Heimdall:
git clone https://gitlab.com/Benjamin Dobell/Heimdall.git
Now move to the Heimdall directory:
cd Heimdall
Create build directory and move to it:
mkdir build
cd build
Now run the below command to start the compilation process:
cmake ..
make
sudo make install
After installation, we will verify the Heimdall installation by checking the version of Heimdall using the below command:
heimdall --version command
The above command will display the version number of the Heimdall.
Heimdall is now successfully installed on your Void Linux system. You can now use Heimdall to flash firmware, ROMs, and kernels on your Samsung Galaxy device.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
