OPSI is an open source client management system for Windows and Linux that automates software deployment, installation, and inventory management. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to install OPSI on Void Linux.
Before we get started, you need to ensure that you have the following:
xbps-install
package manager. You can add the OPSI repository to the system using the following command:
# echo 'repository=http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/uibmz:/opsi:/opsi40/Debian_10/' >> /etc/xbps.d/20-opsi.repo
Once the OPSI repository is added, you can install the necessary packages using the xbps-install
command:
# xbps-install -S opsi-configed opsi-depotserver opsi-utils opsi-tftp-hpa
After installation, you need to configure the OPSI server using the opsi-setup
command. You can run the following command to configure the server:
# opsi-setup --auto-configure-samba --configure-firewall
This command will automatically configure Samba and the firewall settings required for OPSI to work properly.
Finally, you can start the OPSI services using the following command:
# systemctl start opsi-depotserver opsi-configed
You can verify the running status of the OPSI services using the systemctl status
command:
# systemctl status opsi-depotserver
# systemctl status opsi-configed
OPSI is now installed and running on your Void Linux system. You can now start using OPSI to manage your Windows and Linux clients. Enjoy!
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
