How to Install OPSI on Void Linux

OPSI is an open source client management system for Windows and Linux that automates software deployment, installation, and inventory management. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to install OPSI on Void Linux.

Prerequisites

Before we get started, you need to ensure that you have the following:

Step 1: Add the OPSI Repository

You can add the OPSI repository to the system using the following command:

# echo 'repository=http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/uibmz:/opsi:/opsi40/Debian_10/' >> /etc/xbps.d/20-opsi.repo

Step 2: Install the Required Packages

Once the OPSI repository is added, you can install the necessary packages using the xbps-install command:

# xbps-install -S opsi-configed opsi-depotserver opsi-utils opsi-tftp-hpa

Step 3: Configure the OPSI Server

After installation, you need to configure the OPSI server using the opsi-setup command. You can run the following command to configure the server:

# opsi-setup --auto-configure-samba --configure-firewall

This command will automatically configure Samba and the firewall settings required for OPSI to work properly.

Step 4: Start the OPSI Services

Finally, you can start the OPSI services using the following command:

# systemctl start opsi-depotserver opsi-configed

You can verify the running status of the OPSI services using the systemctl status command:

# systemctl status opsi-depotserver
# systemctl status opsi-configed

Conclusion

OPSI is now installed and running on your Void Linux system. You can now start using OPSI to manage your Windows and Linux clients. Enjoy!
