Follow the steps below to install OpenDS on Void Linux.
OpenDS requires Java to run. If you do not have Java installed on your system, you can install it using the following command:
sudo xbps-install -S openjdk
Download the latest version of OpenDS from the official website at https://opends.java.net/. You can use the following command to download the package:
wget https://github.com/OpenDS/opends-releases/releases/download/opends-3.0.0-rc1/OpenDS-3.0.0-rc1.zip
Extract the downloaded OpenDS package to a directory of your choice using the following command:
unzip OpenDS-3.0.0-rc1.zip -d opends
Set the Java environment variables by adding the following lines to the .bashrc
file:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk
export PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin
To start OpenDS, navigate to the extracted OpenDS directory using the following command:
cd opends/OpenDS-3.0.0-rc1
Next, run the following command to start OpenDS:
./bin/start-ds
OpenDS is now running and can be accessed using a web browser. Navigate to http://localhost:8080
to access the OpenDS control panel.
