SilverStrike is a simple and lightweight web server that you can use to host your website. If you are using Void Linux, this guide will show you how to install SilverStrike.
Before installing SilverStrike, you need to make sure that you have the following:
The first step is to install some dependencies that SilverStrike requires. Open your terminal and run the following commands:
sudo xbps-install -S git make gcc
This will install Git, Make, and GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) which are needed to install SilverStrike.
After installing the prerequisites, you need to clone the SilverStrike repository from GitHub. You can do this by running the following command:
cd ~
git clone https://github.com/mmatyas/silverstrike.git
This will create a new directory called "silverstrike" in your home directory and download the SilverStrike source code.
Now that you have the SilverStrike source code, navigate to the "silverstrike" directory and run the following commands to build and install SilverStrike:
cd silverstrike
make
sudo make install
This will compile the SilverStrike source code and install it on your system. You can verify that SilverStrike is installed by running the following command:
silverstrike
This should start the SilverStrike server and display a message that says "Serving on http://127.0.0.1:8080".
By default, SilverStrike will serve files from the "/var/www" directory. If you want to change this or configure other settings, you can create a configuration file called "silverstrike.conf" in the "/usr/local/etc" directory.
For example, you can create a new configuration file with the following command:
sudo nano /usr/local/etc/silverstrike.conf
Then, add your configuration options to the file, save, and exit the editor. You can find more information about the available configuration options in the SilverStrike documentation.
That's it! You have successfully installed SilverStrike on your Void Linux system. You can now use SilverStrike to host your website and serve web content.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
