Tuber is an open-source self-hosted video chat software. It allows you to create your own video chat room and control your privacy. In this tutorial, we will guide you step by step on how to install Tuber on Void Linux.
Before we proceed, we assume that you've already completed the following prerequisites:
First, we need to make sure that our system is up to date by running the following command:
xbps-install -Su
To install Tuber, we need to install its dependencies. Run the following command to install them:
xbps-install -S openssl-devel pcre-devel libffi-devel libxml2-devel libxslt-devel libjpeg-turbo-devel libpng-devel libwebp-devel
Tuber requires Python 3.7 or higher. We can install Python 3 by running the following command:
xbps-install -S python3
After installing Python 3, we need to install the pip package manager. Run the following command to install pip:
xbps-install -S python3-pip
Now that we have installed all the required dependencies, we can install Tuber by using pip. Run the following command:
pip3 install tuber
If the installation was successful, you can start Tuber by running the following command:
tuber
By default, Tuber uses SQLite as its database. If you want to use a different database, you can configure it by editing the tuber.cfg
file, which is located in the /etc/tuber
directory.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Tuber on your Void Linux machine. You can now create your own video chat room and control your privacy.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
