Liteshort is a lightweight URL shortener that is available on the ikl.sh git repository. Here's how to install it on Void Linux.
Start by opening the terminal on your Void Linux system.
Install the required dependencies with the following command:
sudo xbps-install -Sy mongodb git nodejs gcc-c++ make
This command installs MongoDB, Git, Node.js, GCC, and Make.
Clone the Liteshort repository from git.ikl.sh using the following command:
git clone https://git.ikl.sh/132ikl/liteshort.git
This will create a local copy of the Liteshort repository on your computer.
Change directory into the cloned repository using the following command:
cd liteshort
Install the required Node.js modules with the following command:
npm install
This may take a few minutes to complete.
Start MongoDB by running the following command:
sudo systemctl start mongodb
This will start the MongoDB service.
Start Liteshort with the following command:
node index.js
This will start the Liteshort server.
Liteshort will be available at http://localhost:8080/
in your web browser. You can now use Liteshort to create short URLs.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Liteshort on your Void Linux system.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
