Nsedit is an open-source tool used for managing DNS records. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the installation process of nsedit on Void Linux.
Before we begin, make sure that you have:
Nsedit requires some dependencies to be installed before it can be compiled. Run the following command to install these dependencies:
sudo xbps-install -S libressl-devel libunbound-devel libevent-devel
The next step is to clone the nsedit repository from GitHub by running the following command:
git clone https://github.com/tuxis-ie/nsedit.git
Once the repository has been cloned, navigate to the nsedit directory by running the following command:
cd nsedit
Next, run the following commands to compile and install nsedit:
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
sudo make install
You may receive warnings during the compilation process, but don't worry as long as they are not errors.
To verify that nsedit has been installed successfully, run the following command:
nsedit --version
This should output the version number of nsedit that you just installed.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed nsedit on Void Linux. You can now use this tool to manage DNS records on your system.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
