Alfresco Community Edition is an open-source enterprise content management system that allows you to manage, share, and collaborate on documents and other digital content. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to install Alfresco Community Edition on Windows 10.
Prerequisites
Before we start, make sure your Windows 10 system meets the following requirements:
- At least 4GB of RAM
- At least 40GB of free disk space
- JDK 8 or later installed
Step 1: Download Alfresco Community Edition
- Go to the Alfresco Community Edition download page at https://www.alfresco.com/products/community/download and select the latest version of the software.
- Click on the download link for Windows (zip archive) to download the installation package.
- Wait for the download to finish before proceeding to the next step.
Step 2: Extract the Installation Package
- Once the download is complete, extract the contents of the zip archive to a folder on your system.
- Navigate to the folder where you extracted the installation package.
- Double-click on the
alfresco-community-installer-<version>.exe
file to launch the installer.
Step 3: Start the Installation
- After launching the installer, you will be prompted to choose a language for the installation. Select your preferred language and click OK.
- On the next screen, read and accept the license agreement, then click Next.
- Choose the installation directory where Alfresco Community Edition will be installed, or accept the default, then click Next.
- In the next screen, choose the type of installation you want. For a typical installation, select Standard and click Next. Alternatively, you can choose Advanced to customize the installation settings.
- Choose the components you want to install. By default, all components will be selected. If you want to exclude any component, uncheck the box next to it. Click Next when you are done.
- If you selected Advanced installation in step 4, you will be prompted to configure various installation options. Make your choices and click Next.
- In the next screen, you can choose whether to start the Alfresco Community Edition server automatically after installation. Check the box if you want to start the server automatically, then click Install.
Step 4: Complete the Installation
- Wait for the installation to complete. This may take several minutes.
- Once the installation is complete, click Finish to close the installer.
- Open a web browser and go to
http://localhost:8080/alfresco
. This should take you to the Alfresco Community Edition login page.
- Log in using the default admin username and password, which are
admin
and admin
, respectively.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Alfresco Community Edition on your Windows 10 system. You can now start creating and managing your digital content.
