Before proceeding with the installation, ensure you have the following prerequisites:
Visit the official Bareos website and download the latest Windows installer file for Bareos. Once you have downloaded the installer, proceed to the next step.
Launch the downloaded Bareos installer by running the executable file. Windows may prompt you with a security warning, click the "Run" button to continue.
After launching the installer, a setup wizard will open to guide you through the installation process. To begin, click the "Next" button.
In the next window, choose the installation folder where Bareos will be installed. You can use the default folder or specify a different location by clicking the "Browse" button. Once done, click the "Next" button to proceed.
In the next window, select the Bareos components you want to install on your system. By default, all the components are selected. You can choose to deselect any component that is not necessary. Once done, click the "Next" button to proceed.
In the next window, choose whether you want to install the PostgreSQL backend database. If you choose to install it, select the version you want to install. If you have an existing PostgreSQL database, you can choose to use it instead. Once done, click the "Next" button to proceed.
In the next window, choose whether you want to install the Bareos web interface. You can also specify the port number for the web interface. Once done, click the "Next" button to proceed.
In the next window, choose the user account that Bareos will use to run services. By default, the "bareos" user is selected. If you have a specific user that you want to use, you can specify it. Once done, click the "Next" button to proceed.
In the next window, you can configure the Bareos Director settings, such as the backup storage location, job settings, email notifications, etc. Once done, click the "Next" button to proceed.
In the final window, review your installation settings and click the "Install" button to install Bareos on your Windows 10 system. Once the installation is complete, click the "Finish" button to exit the installer.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Bareos on your Windows 10 system. You can now configure backups and file recovery using the Bareos Director.
