The Conference Organizing Distribution (COD) is a Drupal based distribution aimed at making organizing conferences easier. COD is built with Drupal 7 and includes all the necessary modules and configurations to make your conference a success. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing COD on your Windows 10 machine.
Before we begin, you will need the following:
Once you have downloaded the COD installation package, extract its contents to your XAMPP (or WAMP) htdocs folder. You can do this by either right-clicking on the folder and selecting "Extract All" or opening the ZIP file and dragging the contents to your htdocs folder.
Open the XAMPP (or WAMP) control panel and start the Apache and MySQL services.
Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/phpmyadmin. This should open the phpMyAdmin dashboard. From here, create a new database for your COD installation.
Open a new tab on your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/cod. This should launch the COD installation wizard.
Select your preferred language and click "Continue".
On the next page, COD will check if your system meets the minimum requirements. Fix any errors that are reported and click "Continue".
Enter the database details you created in step 3 and click "Continue".
On the next page, enter in the necessary site details such as the site name and administrative credentials. Click "Continue" when done.
Choose any additional modules you wish to install and click "Continue" again.
COD will now install and configure itself. This might take a few minutes depending on your system specifications.
Once the installation process is complete, you will be redirected to the COD homepage. Congratulations! You have successfully installed the Conference Organizing Distribution on your Windows 10 machine.
