LimeSurvey is a popular open-source tool for creating online surveys, questionnaires, and feedback forms. In this tutorial, you will learn how to install LimeSurvey on Windows 10 operating system.
Before starting the installation process, make sure you have the following prerequisites:
Go to https://www.limesurvey.org and click on "Download" in the top bar.
Select the latest stable version (e.g., Version 4.x.x).
Select the appropriate download file type for your Windows operating system (e.g., zip).
Once downloaded, extract the zip file to a local directory on your computer.
Open the extracted LimeSurvey folder and navigate to the "upload" directory.
Select all the files in the "upload" directory and copy them.
Navigate to your XAMPP installation directory (Default directory: C:\xampp
) and locate the "htdocs" directory.
Paste the copied LimeSurvey files into the "htdocs" directory.
Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost/phpmyadmin
.
Click on the "New" button in the left-hand panel to create a new database.
Enter a database name and click on the "Create" button.
Open the LimeSurvey folder in xampp/htdocs
, and locate the file named "config-sample.php".
Rename "config-sample.php" to "config.php".
Open the newly-renamed "config.php" file in a text editor and modify the following information:
$databasename
: The name of the database you just created in step 2.
$dbuser
: The database user name (default: "root").
$dbpass
: The database password (default: "" - leave blank).
$rooturl
: The URL of your LimeSurvey installation (default: "http://localhost").
Launch the web browser and navigate to http://localhost/limesurvey/admin
Follow the instructions in the installer wizard to complete the installation process.
Once the installation is complete, you can log in to your LimeSurvey administrator dashboard using the username "admin" and the password "password".
Congratulations! You have successfully installed LimeSurvey on your Windows 10 computer.
