Lychee is a great open-source photo-management tool. Installing Lychee on Windows 10 can be easy if the steps below are followed. The installation can be broken down into three main steps:
- Install XAMPP
- Download Lychee
- Install Lychee
Step 1: Install XAMPP
- Download XAMPP from https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html. Choose the version for Windows.
- Run the installer and follow the instructions to complete the installation.
- Once installation is completed, launch XAMPP Control Panel.
- Start Apache and MySQL by clicking on the "Start" buttons next to each.
Step 2: Download Lychee
- Download the ZIP file containing Lychee from https://lycheeorg.github.io/.
- Extract the contents of the ZIP file to the "htdocs" folder inside the XAMPP installation directory. The default installation directory is "C:\xampp\htdocs".
Step 3: Install Lychee
- Open a web browser and navigate to "localhost/Lychee" (without quotes). This will load the Lychee installation page.
- Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
- When prompted, enter your MySQL database details. Leave the username as "root" and enter a password if you have set one.
- Create a new database for Lychee. Enter a name for the database and click "Create".
- After the installation is completed, Lychee will be ready to use.
Note: Be sure to keep XAMPP running in order to use Lychee.
