Before installing OpenDJ, make sure you have the following installed on your machine:
First, download the latest version of OpenDJ from the Forgerock website at http://opendj.forgerock.org/downloads.html. Choose the appropriate architecture for your machine (32-bit or 64-bit).
After downloading the OpenDJ ZIP file, extract it to a folder on your machine.
OpenDJ requires that you have Java installed on your machine. Make sure you have installed a version of Java Development Kit (JDK) that is compatible with OpenDJ.
Open the System Properties window by right-clicking on the "This PC" icon on your desktop and selecting "Properties".
In the System Properties window, click on the "Advanced system settings" link.
In the Advanced tab, click on the "Environment Variables" button.
Under the System Variables section, click on the "New" button and enter the following information:
JAVA_HOME
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk8
Click on "OK" to save the changes.
Here are the steps to set up and configure OpenDJ:
Navigate to the OpenDJ directory where you extracted the ZIP file.
Open the command prompt and run the following command:
.\setup.bat
Once the installation wizard appears, select a language.
On the "License Agreement" screen, read the license agreement, then select "I accept the agreement" and click "Next".
On the "Installation Directory" screen, select the installation directory where OpenDJ will be installed, then click "Next".
On the "Configure Server Instance" screen, configure the following:
cn=Directory Manager

Sample Data
Review your configuration, then click "Next" to start the installation process.
When the installation is complete, click "Finish".
Once you have completed the installation, start OpenDJ by running the following command:
.\bin\start-ds.bat
OpenDJ should now be running and accessible at http://localhost:8080
in your web browser.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed OpenDJ on your Windows 10 machine. You can now use OpenDJ to manage a directory of users and groups.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
