Requirements
- A computer running Windows 10
- Internet connection
Steps
- Go to the OpenStreetMap website and click on the "Edit" button on the top of the page.
- You will be prompted to choose an editing tool, select "iD Editor" and click on the "Edit with iD" button.
- Click on the "Launch the editor" button and follow the prompts to install the iD Editor.
- Once the iD Editor is installed, open it by clicking on the iD Editor icon on your desktop or start menu.
- In the iD Editor interface, click on the "New Map" button to create a new map.
- You should now be able to see the OpenStreetMap data in your iD Editor. You can zoom in and out, as well as pan around to explore the map data.
- To edit the map, you will need to create an account on the OpenStreetMap website. Click on the "Sign up" button on the top of the page and follow the prompts to create an account.
- Once you have an account, you can start editing the map by adding or changing various data points, such as roads, buildings, and landmarks.
- When you are done editing, click on the "Save" button on the top of the page. Your changes will be sent to the OpenStreetMap database, and other users will be able to see them.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed OpenStreetMap on your Windows 10 computer and have started editing the map.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
