PrestaShop is a popular open-source e-commerce software that can be easily installed on Windows 10 computer. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps required to install PrestaShop on your Windows 10 PC.
Before proceeding with the installation process, make sure that you have the following prerequisites:
The first step is to download the latest version of PrestaShop from the official website at https://www.prestashop.com/en/download.
Extract the downloaded PrestaShop zip archive to the htdocs
directory of your XAMPP (or WAMP) installation. Rename the extracted directory to a short and easy-to-remember name for your project.
To create the database for your PrestaShop installation, you need to open your XAMPP (or WAMP) control panel and start Apache and MySQL.
Next, open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/
to access the phpMyAdmin interface.
Create a new database by clicking on the “Databases” tab and entering a name for your database.
Now that you have downloaded PrestaShop, extracted the files and created your database, you are ready to start the installation process.
Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/your-project-name/
(replace the “your-project-name” with the name you gave to the project directory in step 2).
You will be redirected to the PrestaShop installation page where you will need to select the language of your choice and click on the “Next” button.
On the next page, you will need to accept the license agreement and click on the “Next” button.
Next, you will see a page where PrestaShop will verify that your server meets the minimum requirements for installation. If there are any errors or warnings, you will need to resolve them before proceeding.
On the next page, you will be asked to enter your database information. Enter the database name, username, password, server, and table prefix as per your configuration in step 3.
Click on the “Test your database connection now” button to verify that the credentials you entered are correct. Once the connection test is successful, click on the “Next” button.
On the next page, you will be asked to enter your e-commerce information such as your store name, country, time zone, and administrator login details.
Once you have entered all the required information, click on the “Next” button to proceed to the final page.
On the final page, PrestaShop will ask you to remove the installation directory and will provide you with a link to your new e-commerce site.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed PrestaShop on your Windows 10 computer. You can now log in to your new e-commerce site and start configuring your store. Best of luck with your new online store!
