ProjectSend is a self-hosted file sharing application that allows you to upload, store, and share large files with your team or clients. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the installation process of ProjectSend on a Windows 10 machine using XAMPP.
Prerequisites
- Windows 10 machine
- XAMPP server installed
- Basic knowledge of running a web server
Step 1: Download ProjectSend
- Go to the ProjectSend website at https://www.projectsend.org/ and click on the “Download” tab.
- Download the latest version of ProjectSend by clicking the “Download ZIP” button.
Step 2: Extract ProjectSend Files
- Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a location of your choosing. We recommend extracting it to the “htdocs” folder of your XAMPP installation, located in
C:\xampp\htdocs\
.
Step 3: Create a Database
- Open a web browser and go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ to access the phpMyAdmin GUI.
- Click on the “New” button on the left-hand side to create a new database.
- Name the database “projectsend” and click on “Create”.
Step 4: Create a User
- Click on the “User accounts” tab at the top of the page.
- Click on the “Add user account” button.
- Create a new user account with a username and password of your choice. Make sure to give the user full privileges on the “projectsend” database.
Step 5: Configure ProjectSend
- Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost/projectsend/.
- The ProjectSend installer will automatically begin. Follow the instructions in the installer to set up your database and admin account.
- In the database configuration section, enter:
- Database Server:
localhost
- Database Name:
projectsend
- Username:
your_username
- Password:
your_password
- Complete the installation process by following the prompts.
Step 6: Start Using ProjectSend
- Once installation is complete, you can access ProjectSend at http://localhost/projectsend/.
- Log in using the credentials you created during installation.
- You can now start uploading and sharing files with your team or clients.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed ProjectSend on your Windows 10 machine using XAMPP.
