How to Install PsiTransfer on Windows 10

PsiTransfer is a self-hosted file transfer solution that allows you to share files securely and easily. Here's how you can install it on your Windows 10 machine:

  1. First, install Node.js on your computer. You can download it from the official website here.

  2. Next, download the PsiTransfer source code from the official GitHub repository. You can do this by clicking the "Clone or Download" button and selecting "Download ZIP".

  3. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a folder on your computer.

  4. Open a command prompt or PowerShell window in the extracted folder. You can do this by navigating to the folder in the file explorer, holding the Shift key, and right-clicking on an empty area. Then, select "Open PowerShell window here" or "Open command prompt here" from the context menu.

  5. Run the following command in the command prompt or PowerShell window to install the required Node.js modules:

    npm install

  6. Once the modules are installed, start the server by running the following command:

    npm start

  7. After a moment, you'll see a message that says "PsiTransfer listening on port 3000". This means that the server is running successfully.

  8. Open a web browser and navigate to "http://localhost:3000". You should see the PsiTransfer web interface.

  9. To start sharing files, simply drag and drop them onto the web page. You can also click the "Add Files" button to select files from your computer.

  10. Once you've added your files, PsiTransfer will generate a download link that you can share with others.

That's it! You've successfully installed PsiTransfer on Windows 10 and are now able to securely share files with others.
