SANE is an open-source software suite that allows scanning to be shared over a network. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing SANE Network Scanning on Windows 10.
Step 1: Download SANE
- Go to the SANE project website at http://sane-project.org/ and click on the "Download" button.
- Select the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows).
- Once the download is complete, extract the files to a folder of your choice.
Step 2: Install SANE
- Open a command prompt as an administrator. You can do this by right-clicking on the Windows Start Menu, and selecting "Command Prompt (Admin)".
- Navigate to the directory where you extracted SANE.
- Type the following command:
sane-install.bat install
. This will install SANE on your system.
- Once the installation is complete, type the following command to start the SANE server:
sane-net-daemon.exe
.
- You should now be able to access the SANE server from any client machine on your network.
Step 3: Configure SANE
- Open a web browser and go to the following address:
http://127.0.0.1:6566/
.
- Click on the "Configuration" tab.
- Under "Scanner Access", select "Allow remote access to scanners".
- Click on the "Save Changes" button.
- Restart the SANE server by typing the following command:
sane-net-daemon.exe -d
.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed SANE Network Scanning on Windows 10 and configured it to be accessible from a client machine on your network.
