How to Install SANE Network Scanning on Windows 10

SANE is an open-source software suite that allows scanning to be shared over a network. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing SANE Network Scanning on Windows 10.

Step 1: Download SANE

  1. Go to the SANE project website at http://sane-project.org/ and click on the "Download" button.
  2. Select the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows).
  3. Once the download is complete, extract the files to a folder of your choice.

Step 2: Install SANE

  1. Open a command prompt as an administrator. You can do this by right-clicking on the Windows Start Menu, and selecting "Command Prompt (Admin)".
  2. Navigate to the directory where you extracted SANE.
  3. Type the following command: sane-install.bat install. This will install SANE on your system.
  4. Once the installation is complete, type the following command to start the SANE server: sane-net-daemon.exe.
  5. You should now be able to access the SANE server from any client machine on your network.

Step 3: Configure SANE

  1. Open a web browser and go to the following address: http://127.0.0.1:6566/.
  2. Click on the "Configuration" tab.
  3. Under "Scanner Access", select "Allow remote access to scanners".
  4. Click on the "Save Changes" button.
  5. Restart the SANE server by typing the following command: sane-net-daemon.exe -d.
