WebODF is an open-source JavaScript library that allows users to view and edit Open Document Format (ODF) files directly in a web browser. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install WebODF on Windows 10.
Prerequisites
Before we begin, make sure that you have the following:
- Windows 10 computer with administrative access
- Internet connection
- Node.js installed on your computer
Step 1: Download WebODF
- Open your browser and navigate to https://webodf.org/.
- Click the "Download" button on the top menu bar.
- Scroll down to "Getting the Code" section and select "Download Latest Release" button.
- Save the .zip archive file to a location where you will be able to easily locate it, such as your desktop.
Step 2: Extract the WebODF files
- Locate the .zip archive file you just downloaded and right-click on it.
- Select "Extract All" from the context menu and choose a location to extract the files to.
- Click the "Extract" button.
Step 3: Install WebODF
- Open the extracted folder and locate the "build" folder.
- Open a command prompt or PowerShell window in this directory.
- Type the command
npm install
and press Enter to begin installing the necessary packages.
- After the installation is complete, type the command
npm run build
and press Enter to build the project.
- Once the build is completed, you can view the WebODF sample file by opening the "index.html" file located in the "build" folder.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed WebODF on your Windows 10 computer. You can now use it to view and edit ODF files directly in your web browser.
