Webmin is a web-based system administration tool for Unix/Linux and other operating systems. However, it is also possible to install and use Webmin on a Windows 10 machine. Here's a tutorial on how to do just that.
Webmin is written in Perl, so the first step is to download and install Perl on your Windows 10 machine. You can download Perl from the official website: https://www.perl.org/get.html.
Once the download is complete, run the installer and follow the instructions to install Perl on your machine.
Next, download the latest version of Webmin from the official website: http://www.webmin.com/download.html. Choose the .tar.gz package and extract it using a file archiving program like 7-Zip.
Open the webmin folder and find the file "miniserv.conf". Open this file in a text editor and add the following line:
root=/path/to/webmin
Replace "/path/to/webmin" with the path to your Webmin folder.
Open a command prompt and navigate to the Webmin folder. Then, type the following command:
perl setup.pl
Follow the instructions to install Webmin on your Windows 10 machine.
Once the installation is complete, launch your web browser and navigate to "https://localhost:10000". You should see the Webmin login screen.
Enter your username and password (which you set during the installation process) and click "Login". You should now be able to access the Webmin interface and start managing your system.
That's it! You've successfully installed and configured Webmin on your Windows 10 machine. With Webmin, you can now easily manage your system without having to use the command line.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
