Yaade is a software package for Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulations. This tutorial will guide you through the steps of installing Yaade on Windows 10.
Yaade requires Python 3 to run. If you don't have Python 3 already installed on your system, you can download and install it from the official website here: https://www.python.org/downloads/.
During the installation process, make sure to select the option to add Python to your system PATH.
Yaade code is hosted on GitHub, so you will need to install Git to clone the Yaade repository. You can download Git from this link: https://git-scm.com/downloads.
During the installation process, you can leave the default settings as they are.
Once Git is installed, you can clone the Yaade repository by opening a command prompt and entering the following command:
git clone https://github.com/yade/trunk.git
This will create a local copy of the Yaade repository on your computer.
To run Yaade, you need to install its dependencies. To do this, open a command prompt and navigate to the trunk
directory where you cloned the repository. Then, run the following command:
pip install -r requirements.txt
This will install all the necessary packages that Yaade requires. The process may take a few minutes.
Once the dependencies are installed, you can launch Yaade by running the following command from the trunk
directory:
python -m yade
This will open the Yaade GUI, and you can start using the software.
In this tutorial, we have covered the steps required to install Yaade on Windows 10. By following these steps, you should be able to successfully install and run Yaade on your system.
