How to Install mStream on Windows 10

mStream is a self-hosted media streaming server. It allows you to stream music and videos from your own computer to any device on your local network or remotely on the internet.

Here are the steps to install mStream on Windows 10:

Step 1: Download mStream

Go to the mStream website, https://mstream.io/, and click on the "Download" button. This will take you to the download page.

Choose the appropriate version for your Windows 10 operating system and click on the download link. The file should start downloading immediately.

Step 2: Install mStream

Once the download is complete, navigate to the folder where you saved the downloaded file and double-click on the installer (it should have a name similar to "mstream-setup-x.x.x.exe", where "x.x.x" represents the version number).

A pop-up window will appear asking you if you want to allow the app to make changes to your device. Click "Yes" to continue.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install mStream. Choose the destination folder where you want mStream to be installed and select additional components you want to install (such as additional codecs).

After you have finished installing mStream, click on the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

Step 3: Run mStream

Once mStream is installed, you can launch it by double-clicking on the desktop icon or searching for it in the Start menu.

The first time you start mStream, you will need to create a new user account. Enter a username and password, and click on the "Create account" button.

Once you log in to mStream, you can start adding media files to your library by clicking on the "Add folder" button and selecting the folder where your media files are stored.

Step 4: Access Your Library

To access your mStream library from another device on your network, open a web browser and type in the server's IP address followed by the port number (by default, the port number is 3000). For example, if your server's IP address is 192.168.1.100, type in "http://192.168.1.100:3000" and press enter.

You will be prompted to log in to mStream, so enter your username and password that you created earlier.

Once you are logged in, you can browse and play your media files from any device on your network that has a web browser.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed mStream on Windows 10 and can now start streaming your media files to any device on your network.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
