ownCloud is an open-source file sharing and cloud storage solution that you can use to store your files, photos, and other data. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install ownCloud on your Windows 10 computer.
Before we begin, make sure you have the following prerequisites:
First, navigate to the location where you downloaded the ownCloud zip file. Right-click on the file and select "Extract All" from the context menu. Choose the destination where you want to extract the file and click on the "Extract" button.
After extracting the zip file, navigate to the extracted folder and open the "owncloud" folder. Copy all of the files from this folder.
Next, navigate to the location where XAMPP was installed and find the "htdocs" directory. Paste the copied files from the "owncloud" folder into this directory.
Now, open the XAMPP control panel by searching "XAMPP Control Panel" in the Windows search bar and clicking on the result.
In the XAMPP control panel, click on the "Start" button next to the Apache and MySQL modules.
Open your preferred web browser and enter "localhost/owncloud" in the address bar. You will be directed to the ownCloud setup wizard.
Follow the prompts in the setup wizard to set up your ownCloud instance. You will need to create an admin account and configure the storage location.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed ownCloud on your Windows 10 computer. You can now start saving and sharing your files in your own private cloud storage.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
