YMPD is an open-source lightweight web-based MPD (Music Player Daemon) client that allows you to access your music library through a web browser. In this tutorial, we'll walk you through the steps to install YMPD on Windows 10.
Prerequisites
- Windows 10 operating system
- Access to the command prompt/terminal
- MPD installed on your system
Step 1: Download YMPD
- Open your web browser and go to ympd.org/">https://ympd.org/.
- On the home page, click on the "Download" button located on the top navigation bar.
- Select "Windows" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on the "Download" button next to the latest release.
Step 2: Extract the YMPD Package
- Once the download is complete, go to the location where the YMPD package is saved.
- Right-click on the package and select "Extract All" from the context menu.
- In the pop-up window, select the destination folder where you want to extract the package.
- Click on the "Extract" button to start the extraction process.
Step 3: Launch YMPD
- Open a command prompt/terminal window.
- Navigate to the extracted YMPD package directory using the cd command. For example:
cd C:\Users\Username\Downloads\ympd-win32-x64-v1.3.1
- Run the YMPD executable file by typing the following command:
ympd.exe
- Press Enter to execute the command. YMPD will start running and display the server information.
Step 4: Access YMPD Through a Web Browser
- Open your web browser.
- Type "localhost:8080" in the address bar and press Enter.
- The YMPD login page will open.
- Enter the username and password for your MPD server.
- Click on the "Login" button to access your music library through YMPD.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed YMPD on Windows 10 and can now access your music library in a web browser.
