How to Install AWStats on Windows 11

Step 1: Download and Extract AWStats

  1. Go to the AWStats website at http://www.awstats.org/ and download the latest version of AWStats.
  2. Extract the downloaded files to a folder on your computer, such as "C:\AWStats".

Step 2: Install Perl

  1. AWStats requires Perl to be installed on your computer. If you don't have Perl installed already, download and install it from https://www.perl.org/get.html.
  2. During installation, make sure to select the "Add Perl to PATH" option.

Step 3: Configure AWStats

  1. Open a command prompt window by pressing "Windows Key + R" and typing "cmd" in the Run dialog box.
  2. Navigate to the AWStats directory by typing "cd C:\AWStats" (or the path where you extracted AWStats).
  3. Copy the "awstats.model.conf" file and rename the copy to "awstats.conf".
  4. Edit the "awstats.conf" file and enter the necessary configuration details for your website, including the log file location, domain name, and host name.
  5. Save the changes to the "awstats.conf" file.

Step 4: Generate AWStats Reports

  1. Open a command prompt window and navigate to the AWStats directory (if you're not already there).
  2. Type "perl awstats.pl -config=example.com -update" (replace "example.com" with the name of your configured site).
  3. AWStats will generate a report for your site, which you can view by opening the "index.html" file in the "wwwroot" folder of the AWStats directory.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed and configured AWStats on Windows 11. You can now generate reports for your website and view statistics about your visitors.
