FreedomBox is a software platform designed for hosting privacy-enhancing services in a decentralized and secure way. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to install FreedomBox on Windows 11.
Visit the FreedomBox download page using your web browser.
Locate the section that says "FreedomBox Images" and click the "Download Stable Images" button.
Select the "Intel/AMD/64-bit" option.
Click the "Stable version" link to download the latest version of the FreedomBox image.
Visit the Rufus download page using your web browser.
Click the "Download" button to download the latest version of Rufus.
Insert the USB drive into your computer.
Open Rufus and select the USB drive from the "Device" dropdown menu.
Click the "Select" button next to the "Boot selection" dropdown menu and navigate to the location where the FreedomBox image is saved.
Select the FreedomBox image file and click the "Open" button.
Leave all other options as default and click the "Start" button.
Rufus will prompt you to erase all data on the USB drive. Click "OK" to proceed.
Rufus will start copying the FreedomBox image to the USB drive. This may take a few minutes.
Restart your computer.
Enter the BIOS menu by pressing the appropriate key during boot (usually F2 or Delete).
Navigate to the "Boot" tab and select the USB drive as the first boot device.
Save the changes and exit the BIOS menu.
The computer should now boot from the USB drive.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install FreedomBox.
Once the installation is complete, you will be prompted to login to your FreedomBox.
Follow the prompts to set up your FreedomBox and create a new user account.
You can now access your FreedomBox by navigating to its IP address in your web browser.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed FreedomBox on your Windows 11 computer.
