How to Install Galette on Windows 11

Galette is open-source management software designed for non-profit organizations to manage their memberships. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to install Galette on Windows 11.

Prerequisites

• Windows 11 operating system
• XAMPP installed on your system
• Internet connection

Step 1: Download Galette

1. Go to the Galette website.
2. Click on the "Download" button.
3. Choose the latest stable release of Galette.
4. Save the downloaded zip file to a convenient location on your system.

Step 2: Extract Galette

1. Open the downloaded zip file containing Galette.
2. Extract the contents of the zip file to the htdocs folder of your XAMPP installation. By default, this folder is located in C:\xampp\htdocs\.
3. Rename the extracted folder to galette.

Step 3: Configure the Database

1. Open XAMPP and start Apache and MySQL modules.
2. Open your web browser and navigate to localhost/phpmyadmin/.
3. Click on the "New" button in the left sidebar to create a new database.
4. Enter a name for your database, such as galette.
5. Leave the collation as utf8mb4_general_ci, and click the "Create" button to create the database.

Step 4: Install Galette

1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/galette/.
2. Follow the setup wizard to install Galette.
3. At the "Database Setup" section, enter the following details:
   • Database engine: mysql
   • Server name: localhost
   • Database name: galette
   • User name: root
   • Password: leave the field blank
   • Table prefix: leave as default
4. Click the "Test database connection" button to confirm that the details are correct.
5. Click the "Install" button to start the installation process.
6. When the installation is complete, click the "Finish" button to exit the setup wizard.

Step 5: Configure Galette

1. Navigate to http://localhost/galette/ in your web browser.
2. Log in to Galette with the default username and password:
   • Username: admin
   • Password: admin123
3. Change the username and password to something more secure.
4. Configure your organization details, such as the name, logo, and contact information.
5. Start managing your memberships with Galette!
